Importance of Prayers by Children
It is important that our children understand there is a purpose to prayer and that their prayers are powerful. The Confraternity of Warriors in Christ invites Christian children to become “Ninja” warriors and unite their powerful prayers with the prayers of other Confraternity members.
Jesus frequently prayed during His life on Earth. He had a reason for doing so. Our prayers are something that God deeply desires. But our prayers are not for His benefit; as a perfect Divine Being, God is complete in His power and knowledge. Our prayers are for our benefit and the benefit of others through intercessory prayer – praying for others, and this is what we need to teach our children.
Daily prayer can lead us to a deeper understanding of ourselves, and of God. Children can learn that prayers are not said on a daily basis for God’s sake but for our own. It is our responsibility to help our children understand that we must work to build a more complete relationship with God for ourselves. Our lives will be filled with God’s goodness in return when we accept this responsibility.
Children’s Prayers are Powerful and Make Great Warriors in Christ
Pope John Paul II recognized the power of prayer by children. In a December 13, 1994 Letter to Children in the Year of the Family, he wrote,
And further in that letter,
It was quite common for the Pope to repeatedly stress to children how powerful their prayers were. As members of the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ, these “Ninja Warriors” can make powerful intercessors for all members. At the same time, Jesus will begin converting their young hearts and begin developing a personal relationship with Him that will be everlasting.
We invite and encourage our member parents and grandparents to fill out an Enrollment Form for their children and grandchildren and others who may be incapable of completing a form themselves. The children and others have the same requirements for membership as adults and other members – they must be baptized Christians and agree to offer daily prayers for the members of the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ and for their intentions.
This can be as simple a prayer as “Father, I offer prayers today for all members of the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ and for their intentions.
