What is the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ?

A “confraternity” is a group of people united together for a common purpose.   Intercessory Prayer (praying for another person) is one of the most powerful weapons we have against the evil that permeates this world and destroys the lives of family and friends. Every day, countless thousands of Warriors in Christ members lift their fellow members up through prayer.  We invite you to become part of this amazing and powerful force and receive the benefits God wants to bestow on you. Why Do We Need the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ?

Let’s face it.  The world is a mess, and seemingly getting worse each year.  Christians and Christian families are under an unrelenting attack by a secular world that is turning traditional beliefs upside down. Life is no longer sacred. Mass shootings, threats of catastrophic war, rampant mind-numbing and life destroying drug use, and so much hatred for one another everywhere in the world are all facets of a cultural war that seeks to destroy our Christian families and beliefs.

One need only look at the inner city poverty, crime and homelessness to see the devastating effects of how losing this cultural war affects our families and neighborhoods. God is being intentionally and systematically eradicated in our schools, our governments and yes, even in some of our so-called religious institutions.

The Confraternity of Warriors in Christ employs the powerful spiritual weapon of Intercessory Prayer by all Christians of all denominations from all over the world to combat the evil force behind the war we are fighting. We are fighting a war with Satan and we need the spiritual tool of Intercessory Prayer which God has given us.

Become a member of the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ and discover the awesome power of Intercessory Prayer.

What is Intercessory Prayer

Intercessory Prayer is the simple, but powerful act of praying for one another. Prayer is the most potent force known to humanity.  The Confraternity of Warriors in Christ harnesses the combined power of its members praying each day for all of its members and for their intentions.

Is Intercessory Prayer Biblical?

Absolutely.  The best example is the prayer Jesus Himself gave us.  In the Our Father Jesus taught us to say “Give us each day our daily bread.” (Luke 11:1-4)  He didn’t say give me this day my daily bread.

For a good list of Scriptural verses that call on us to pray for others (Intercessory Prayer) see our Biblical Basis for Intercessory Prayer webpage.

Does God Answer Our Prayers

We have God’s promise that indeed He does answer our prayers.  Here are just a few Scripture verses where we receive that promise.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)

“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” (John 16:24)

“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13)

“If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:14)

Are the Prayers of Many People Powerful?

Absolutely!  Here’s what St. Paul has to say.

“You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us in answer to many prayers.” (2 Corinthians 1:11)

Notice in particular that St. Paul points out that the blessing (prayer request) for himself and Timothy will be granted in answer to “Many” prayers. The Confraternity of Warriors in Christ is doing exactly what St. Paul has asked the Christian community in Corinth to do – offer many prayers for the benefit of others.

Can my Children and Grandchildren be Warriors in Christ Members?

Absolutely.  As long as they are of the age of reason, are Christian/Catholic and promise to offer daily prayers on behalf of the other members and for their intentions.  See our “Ninja Warriors” page for more information.

What Kind of Daily Prayer Fulfills My Requirement as a Member?

It can be as simple as “Father, I offer prayers today for the members of the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ and for their intentions.” You can also offer up good deeds you do or little sacrifices you do during the day. If your children or grandchildren are members you can have them include prayers for Confraternity members in their morning or night prayers.  It is a great habit for them to start.  You can also have them offer up things like cleaning their room, helping with household chores, etc. God loves all these prayers!

I don’t Believe in Purgatory. Is that a Problem?

There are some Christians who believe in Purgatory and some who do not.  Either belief is acceptable for a member of the Confraternity of Warriors in Christ.  While we may have differences of opinion in religious doctrine, we are united in our belief in Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God  an our Lord and Savior. Frankly, there are many Christians who like the idea of another option for ultimately making it into Heaven. Our Warriors in Christ members who do happen to find themselves in Purgatory should first rejoice, knowing they will be in Heaven at some point. They will likely also be grateful for the continued prayers from their Confraternity brothers and sisters.

Remember, the real enemy is Satan, not each other.  (See our “The Real Enemy” page for a more in-depth discussion of this). Confraternity members lift each other up in prayer with one powerful voice that brings enormous returns and blessings for all members.

I Don’t Believe in Prayers to Mary or the Saints. Can I Still be a Member?

You can. While many Christians routinely pray to Mary and the Saints and ask for their intercession, there are Christians who have issues with this and want to direct their prayers directly to God. These contrasting beliefs do not negate the united belief of all our members that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died for us so that we might have everlasting life.

The Confraternity of Warriors in Christ has asked Our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Peace, St. Michael the Archangel and St. Monica to be our special Heavenly Patrons and pray and intercede for us. The fact of the matter is all prayers are answered by God, whether they come directly to Him or by way of prayers offered by others, including our Blessed Mother, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Monica, or any of the other Saints.

I’m a Member. How Many People are Praying For Me?

Currently there are over 1,000,000 Confraternity of Warriors-in-Christ members located in 130 different countries throughout the world. The total number of people actually praying for each member of the Confraternity of Warriors-in-Christ is likely much higher than that however. Some of our members are in other prayer organizations whose members pray daily or weekly for each other’s intentions.

For example, some members who like to pray the Rosary belong to the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.  This is a group founded over 500 years ago and has numerous Confraternity groups throughout the world who say the Rosary and promote membership in their Confraternity.

It’s unknown how large the membership of the Rosary Confraternity is but it could be enormous.  Consider this.  There are over one billion Catholics in the world and many have a practice of saying a daily Rosary.  If only a small percentage of them belonged to the Rosary Confraternity there could be tens of thousands of members, – or hundreds of thousands of members – praying every single day for each other and their intentions – and likely there are many, many more.

This affiliation through some of our Confraternity members is a huge immediate benefit to our Warriors in Christ Confraternity.  Each Warrior in Christ member effectively has all of the members of the Rosary Confraternity praying for him/her and for his/her intentions, which includes ALL of our Confraternity members and ALL of their intentions as well.

The Rosary Confraternity is only one such group whose members’ prayers are supercharging the prayers of our Confraternity.  There are other interlocking prayer groups that Warrior Confraternity members belong to as well.

How many people are praying daily for you and for each of our Confraternity members? If it were a million people or more each day would it make a difference in your life? Our Confraternity members will discover that answer.

Here is a current list of countries where our Warriors-in-Christ members live.

What Happens if Two Members Pray for Opposite Things?

God understands our needs much better than we do.  Let’s use a real-life political example for instance.  Assume one Confraternity member is praying for a certain candidate to win an election and another member is praying for a different candidate. Although both members are praying for specific candidates they are actually praying for certain outcomes they believe those candidates can make happen. God looks at our real needs, and what is best for us and answers all prayers accordingly.  In the case of a political election outcome, His plan is far better then anything we could ask for – and He also has His own time frame.

Sometimes it may seem our prayers go unanswered, no matter how fervently they are offered, but they are always answered.  We know Jesus answers all of our prayers because He told us so.

I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)

Also, every time we pray, our hearts and souls are continuing the transformation into the being Jesus wants us to be.  Prayer is simply communion and conversation with God.  The more time we spend in this conversation, the more we develop our personal relationship with Him. How wonderful is that!

What if I Forget to Pray Each Day for Confraternity Members

As Confraternity members, we are obligated to “strive” each day to offer prayers for our Confraternity members and for their intentions, but there is no penalty for forgetting or missing a day.  Just do your best to each day include prayers for our members and their intentions.

A good habit is to set aside a particular time and place each day or night for your prayers and include your offering for the Confraternity members at that time.

  • Share your own story of Intercessory Prayer on our website by submitting a Share Your Story form
  • Pray for the growth of Warriors in Christ and you’ll have thousands of Confraternity members supercharging that prayer

What Good Does it do to Pray for People I Don’t Know?

We cannot always know everyone really well that we wish to pray for. We may not know a lot about their circumstances, their trials, their maturity level, etc… What we do know is that if they are fellow believers in Christ, then we worship the same God. Sacred Scripture tells us that those who believe in Jesus have been given the great gift of being children of God. As such, all christians are in one family – the family of God.

The Confraternity of Warriors-in-Christ focuses on this family relationship when we intentionally pray each day for all members and for their intentions.

“But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God” – (John 1:12)

“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” – (1 Corinthians 12:27)

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” – (1 John 3:12)
