Does God answer our prayers?
We have God’s promise that indeed He does answer our prayers.  Here are just a few Scripture verses where we receive that promise.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)

“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” (John 16:24)

“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13)

“If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:14)

Is Intercessory Prayer Biblical?
Absolutely.  The best example is the prayer Jesus Himself gave us.  In the Our Father Jesus taught us to say “Give us each day our daily bread.” (Luke 11:1-4)  He didn’t say give me this day my daily bread.

For a good list of Scriptural verses that call on us to pray for others (Intercessory Prayer) see our Biblical Basis for Intercessory Prayer webpage.

Does the Bible tell us the prayers of many people are powerful?
It does!  Here’s what St. Paul has to say.
“You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us in answer to many prayers.” (2 Corinthians 1:11)

Notice in particular that St. Paul points out that the blessing (prayer request) for himself and Timothy will be granted in answer to “Many” prayers. The Confraternity of Warriors in Christ is doing exactly what St. Paul has asked the Christian community in Corinth to do – offer many prayers for the benefit of others.
